Jarek Pastor, playwright

A Plant

Propelled by a tangential rhetorical structure inspired by Gertrude Stein’s landscaping, this piece considers the human fascination with creating a consciousness to carry on our legacy while we make this planet increasingly uninhabitable through the figures LAB the creator, ANDAM the creation, and the SPEAKER and RECEIVERS who would hear of their story generations into the future.

Filmed live and presented online virtually in collaboration with director Ann Kreitman, dramaturg Rob Ascher, scenic and media designer Tobin Griffin, costume designer Abigail Mansfield-Coleman, lighting designer Alastair Sigala Ramirez, sound designer Keegan Konsor, video editor Michael Francis, stage manager Brillian Qi-Bell, assistant stage manager Jacob Smithburg, and cast members Luli Gomez Teruel, Cass Chia, Liat Graf, Emma Schroeder, Kelli Tosic, Alexis Vaselopulos, Albert Williams, and Olivia Wojcik.

“Part-clown, part-elegy, part-presentation on cultivation, A Plant
 is the story of
a laborer’s attempt at preparing a future life form to repopulate a withered planet.”
